Want to take a piece of clothing, either thrifted or an old favorite, and mend it, make it fit better, or fashion a new look adding your original flair?
This one hour hands-on class is for attendees wanting to learn how to make simple alterations and mending techniques to upcycle clothing. Make a repair, change a sleeve, hem or neckline, or add an embellishment, or make something new; all with the goal of extending the wearability and life of a piece of clothing. Best suited for youth with basic familiarity with hand-sewing and mending. Attendees are invited to bring a piece of clothing to consider for repair, redesign or recycle and brainstorm a plan and begin the process. Each attendee will receive basic sewing supplies and a sheet to review stitches.
Take thrifted clothes or garments from yesteryear and make them fit like new with this hands-on class. Best suited for kids with basic familiarity with sewing and mending. For introductory skills, check out our mending programs October 3, 4, and 5 at Liberty Park, Indian Trail, and South Hill, respectively.
