An opportunity for local creatives to stretch minds and legs on a low-key walk in Riverfront Park with novelist and Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields.
Gertrude Stein took long walks almost every day in Paris. Georgia O'Keefe did the same in New Mexico. Toni Morrison and Mary Oliver committed to a daily ritual of watching the sunrise. It's no surprise that creativity and a sense of wonder go hand in hand. Artists frequently fold daily walks, physical activity, and/or the great outdoors into their creative process.
In the spirit of wonder and discovery, book and art lovers are invited to meet Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields just north of the Central Library at the Place of Truths Plaza on Spokane Falls Boulevard for an energizing ramble in Riverfront Park. The conversation will be free-ranging and might include subjects such as books, art, music, creativity, inspiration, and artistic process. Strollers welcome and wheelchair-accessible routes can be used as needed. Walking participants should wear good shoes and expect the journey to take approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
