The significance of China as an economic and political force in the world is undeniable; and, as the world’s most populous nation, it is a magnification of the greatest challenges the world faces. China is also the birthplace to one of the most ancient, storied civilizations, with traditions that persist despite rapid modernization. In this presentation, international scholar Lance Rhoades offers a look at China’s culture – past, present, and future – as seen through his experiences working at universities in its two largest cities: Beijing and Shanghai.
