Manoochehre "Mike" Ghavarehchee, an Iranian-American who came to the United States as a refugee in 1985, will discuss the political history that has led to the current protests in Iran.
Mr. Gahvarehchee is an Iranian-American who fled political persecution in Iran to Turkey in 1983. He was eventually granted asylum in the United States and has lived and worked here since 1985.
Mr. Gahvarehchee will join Spokane Public Library in conversation with Spokesman-Review columnist Sue Lani Madsen to discuss the recent political history in Iran that has led to the political protests that are occurring there now. He will also offer his perspective on the Iranian people's longing for freedom and democracy, and what American citizens can learn from their demonstrations.
