The Story of Plastic
Film Discussion (In-Person Event)
Tuesday, July 12
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Liberty Park
Liberty Park EventsJoin Spokane Zero Waste and 350 Spokane for a viewing of the documentary The Story of Plastic (2019) with an accompanying discussion.
The Story of Plastic is a searing expose, uncovering the ugly truth behind plastic pollution and the false solution of plastic recycling. Different from every other plastic documentary you’ve seen, it presents a cohesive timeline of how we got to our current global plastic pollution crisis and how the oil and gas industry has successfully manipulated the narrative around it. From the extraction of fossil fuels and plastic disposal to the global resistance fighting back, this life-changing film depicts one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues.
You can watch the documentary on Kanopy through your library account, or join us from 6-7:30pm to view the film. The discussion will take place at 7:30pm.
This program is part of the Plastic Free July Challenge, a global movement to eliminate single use plastic waste. Learn more at www.plasticfreejuly.org and participate locally on the Spokane Zero Waste Facebook Group. 350 Spokane is building an effective movement for climate action in the greater Spokane area, promoting a just transition to 100% fossil-free energy and a low-carbon economy that works for everyone. Check out their website for more information.
