In celebration of AANHPI Heritage Month, Dr. Melissa Bedford from EWU will discuss the use of multicultural children's literature as a tool to help with those tough conversations about race.
This session will dive into the use of multicultural children’s literature as a tool to help with those tough conversations about race. With the recent increase of anti-Asian/Asian American racism occurring throughout the U.S., it’s important for us to provide spaces and opportunities for children to learn about and reflect on how this impacts our lives so that we all can help build a more inclusive society. Recommendations of diverse children’s, middle grade, and young adult books will also be shared.
This program is part of the Library's celebration of Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month in collaboration with Asian Pacific Islander Coalition (APIC) - Spokane Chapter.
