We'll do hands-on learning about ice and snow together. See full description for supplies list. Registration is required for this private Zoom event. Registration closes 24 hours before the event.
We'll do several hands-on experiments and activities to learn about ice, snow, and winter weather. Caregivers should be present to supervise and join in the learning. Preschool children can participate but will need more assistance.
Please have these items on hand if you want to do the experiments along with the presenter.
Ice cubes - we'll use 12-15 or so total over the event.
A salt shaker (with salt), a piece of string about 2 feet long.
About 2 tablespoons each of salt, sugar, and baking soda (doesn't have to be precisely measured) and several small bowls or a muffin tin.
A clear glass, a can of shaving cream, water, blue food coloring and an eye dropper or a straw.
Hopefully real snow will be available. You can save up in a container and put it in your freezer before the event, although fresh snow will work better.
Register to participate and you will receive an email with a link with instructions on how to participate before the event. Only one registration per family/computer is necessary.
Technology requirements: You will need a device or computer with an internet connection and the Chrome browser, microphone and speakers to participate.
