A poetry workshop experimenting with various poetic forms, presented by poet Amelia Díaz Ettinger. This is part of the first annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
Let's explore writing poetry using forms that are not well-known. Do you know what a tanka, lipogram, aubade, and beautiful outlaw poems have in common? Well, let's discover that together. In this class, we are interested in having fun creating works that tease the brain and help the imagination grow. The restrictive manner of these forms paradoxically helps enliven the imagination. This workshop is beneficial to poets and non-poets alike.
This is one of eleven poetry events occurring at the first annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon on June 1st.
This first-annual, day-long event at the Liberty Park Library (402 S. Pittsburg Street) will feature panels, poetry workshops and a bevy of local writers. The Inland NW Poetry Salon celebrates the craft of poetry, spotlights regional poets, and welcomes participants in all phases of their writing lives.
About the presenter: Amelia Díaz Ettinger is a ‘Mexi-Rican,’ born in México but raised in Puerto Rico. As a BIPOC poet and writer, she has three full-length poetry books and two poetry chapbooks published. Her poetry and short stories have appeared in literary journals and anthologies.
