A poetry workshop uplifting the queer community, presented by poet and educator Ash Montenegro Hart. This is part of the first annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
This workshop focuses on the importance of writing in community. We'll begin with a short meditation to gather our thoughts and be present for what’s to come. The workshop will include reading and discussing poems written by Audre Lorde and Alok Vaid-Menon. The writing prompts will be inspired by these poems, with one poem being written in partnership with another writer, and the other an individual piece. Included will be time to share, if participants feel prompted to do so and time allows.
This is one of eleven poetry events occurring at the first annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon on June 1st.
This first-annual, day-long event at the Liberty Park Library (402 S. Pittsburg Street) will feature panels, poetry workshops and a bevy of local writers. The Inland NW Poetry Salon celebrates the craft of poetry, spotlights regional poets, and welcomes participants in all phases of their writing lives.
About the presenter: Ash (they/them) is a non-binary and trans, latinx, neurodiverse, (im)perfect poet, book enthusiast, sporadic creative, and so much more. they show up every day to try and help create brave spaces where folks can find community to show up in whatever capacity they can and just be.
