A poetry workshop inspired by journaling, presented by writer Asyia Gover. This is part of the first annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
Don't let writer's block stop you! Journaling is a great way to stay active as a writer when the inspiration isn't flowing. Even better, when you go back to your journal entries, you may find some golden nuggets worth refining into a poem! Asyia Gover's upcoming book, East Side Solitude, was developed largely from journal entries and a practice of recording thoughts and observations on significant dates. Learn Asyia's method for changing a diary into a manuscript by attending this workshop! Bring a journal entry of your choice, or write one on the day of. All bodies, brains, identities, experience levels welcome.
This is one of eleven poetry events occurring at the first annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
This first-annual, day-long event at the Liberty Park Library will feature panels, poetry workshops and a bevy of local writers. The Inland NW Poetry Salon celebrates the craft of poetry, spotlights regional poets, and welcomes participants in all phases of their writing lives.
About the presenter: Asyia Gover is a writer, artist, educator, and mediator. Her poetry has appeared in the multimedia collection SEXT and anthology zines such as Love and Outrage. She has written and co-directed three stage plays for youth performers. She and her feline familiar, Cora, have recently returned to their hometown of Spokane after ten years in the Seattle area.
